Over 100 workers of local pharmaceutical company Starwin were Thursday denied access to their offices by the management.
It took the intervention of the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) to get them access.
Today’s misunderstandings were on the back of a recent protest they staged for the removal of the company’s board chairman Mensa Otabil.
The workers last Friday picketed to drum home the need for Otabil to be removed from office.
They’ve accused him of overseeing what they say is a fraudulent sale to rival company Dannex Pharmaceuticals.
They argue that due process is not being followed in a deal whose terms have not been made clear to them.
This is not the first time calls has been made for Otabil’s removal.
In 2013, a shareholder Enviros Solutions Limited, surcharged Otabil, the then Managing Director, Kwasi Yirenkyi, and five others for postponing the 2012 Annual General Meeting
Dannex is taking over Starwin in a sale that sees them become the biggest shareholder with some 71.33 percent shares.
Starwin is listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange.
