NDC pegs parliamentary primary fee at GH₵10,000

Prospective candidates of the ruling National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) who would want to contest for the party’s parliamentary primary scheduled for November 7, 2015 shall pay a filing fee of GH₵10,000.00.

However, prospective female candidates and persons with disability wanting to contest for the position shall attract a fifty percent of the filing fee.

That means, female parliamentary aspirants who would want to contest the parliamentary primary shall pay GH₵5,000.00.

In the same vein, persons with disability shall pay GH₵5,000.00 as filing fee for the parliamentary primary.

The nomination forms also attract a fee of GH₵1,000.00.

General Secretary of the NDC Johnson Asiedu Nketia announced this Thursday after a marathon meeting of the Party’s National Executive Council (NEC).

The amount he noted is twice the figure prospective candidates of the party paid in the lead up to the 2011 parliamentary primary.

The decision is among several others approved by the NEC for the party’s parliamentary and presidential election calendar which starts from August 27 to November 7, 2015.

Filing of nominations begins from August 27 and closes on September 10, 2015.

“The day has been carefully chosen so that as many as our prospective candidates who wish to perform the Hajj will file their nomination before embarking on the Hajj. Nominations shall remain open till September 10 at 5pm,” noted Mr. Asiedu Nketia.
