NPP primaries: Annul Korle Klottey results within 7 days – Addison, Tawiah

Two of the candidates in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Korley Klottey constituency Parliamentary primaries, Philip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah, have given the party’s National Executive Council (NEC), a seven day ultimatum to review their joint petition calling for the annulment and re-run of the elections.

The two have threatened to go to court if the NEC does not review the petition.

The campaign manager for Philip Addison, Norman Nyametey Tetteh, told Citi News that the two candidates know that the NEC has not met to deliberate and have given the committee enough time to do so.

“We are aware that the National Executive Committee has not met, and we still will have to give them enough time to meet to deliberate on the issue.

” He also said that the only way that the issue could be resolved is for the results of the primaries to be nullified.

“This is the only way that the issue will be resolved. Philip Addison and Adjei Tawiah boycotted the election based on the way things were being organised, which they felt was not the right way. We will follow the processes that the party has put down for situations like this,” he said.

The constitution of the New Patriotic Party provides that the NEC must look into such cases within twenty one days after the petition is submitted.

Norman Nyametey Tetteh says that if the NEC does not act before the 21 days is up, “we will have to take the line of action, which the party may not want. At the appropriate time I know that the party will act on our petition.

” He added that Philip Addison decided to take this particular course of action because he is being called on by delegates to do so.

“Delegates are trooping into his office and calling him that they want justice done because they had been deprived of their voting rights. Philip is somebody who can easily let go, but you know he is somebody who wants justice.”

Norman Tetteh has called on Ghanaians to note that Philip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah did not lose the parliamentary primaries; they boycotted.

The New Patriotic Party is expected to meet on Tuesday, August 25 to deliberate on the joint petition by Philip Addison and Nii Adjei Tawiah. – By: Jeffrey Owuraku Sarpong/citifmonline.com/Ghana
