Men suspected to be armed robbers, on Friday in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, attacked one old generation bank and killed two policemen on duty.
It was gathered that the robbers arrived at the premises of the bank located along the Kogi Local Government Secretariat early in the morning before the banks workers could settle down and started shooting sporadically.
However, their attempt to gain entry into the banking hall was said to have failed as policemen engaged them in a gun battle. However, two of the policemen were said to have died in the process.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Sola Collins Adebayo, confirmed the incident and the death of the two policemen.
Adebayo stated that police would commence investigation into the incident with immediate effect.
