Praise and worship in churches spreading Coronavirus – Dr Nsiah Asare

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo before he will lift the ban on social gathering including church activities has to ensure drumming, dancing and singing otherwise known as praise and worship is stopped in the first place, according to the presidential advisor o Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare.

“Singing can be another mode of transmitting the Conoravirus. When people sing in churches the possibility of saliva coming out from their mouths will make it easy for the virus to spread”, he observed when he spoke on Kumasi FM.

According to the renowned medical doctor, there is no plan by the government to lift the ban on social gathering urging the people to continue observing the President’s directive of social distancing as well as washing hands regularly under running water and use of alcohol base hand sanitizers.

“When we sing and dance, we expose ourselves to contracting the virus because of body contact”, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare told host, Nana Yaw Mensa Joel during a telephone conversation.

President Akufo-Addo on March 15, 2020, in a television broadcast by Executive Instrument declared the ban on all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rallies, church activities, and other related events as part of measures to stop the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Private burials are permitted, but with limited numbers, not exceeding twenty-five (25) in attendance”, he disclosed.
