Philip Addison questions haste in holding Klottey Korle primary

Lawyer Philip Addison an aspirant in the impending New Patriotic Party (NPP) Primaries in the Korle Klottey Constituency, has expressed displeasure over the party’s haste in holding the election on Sunday.

The NPP has set the election for Sunday, 2nd August after Thursday’s decision by an Accra High Court dismissing an injunction application restraining the elections from coming off.

But lawyer Addison is not enthused about the party’s move, questioning why the poll has been set for a Sunday when most of the delegates will be in church to worship.

He held Mr Agyepong responsible for the decision to hold the election on an unsuitable day when it had already been decided at a meeting with the Constituency Chairperson that the contest be held 28th August.

The shrewd lawyer said he was quite confused when he heard that the party had decided to organise the primaries on Sunday because party executives had met on Friday and agreed on a different date.

Philip Addison who is expected to face stiff opposition from Nii Nortey, the immediate past Constituency Chairman, noted that it would be very difficult preparing for the election on Sunday considering the short notification.
