Man gunned down in accidental discharge

GRABBED! Muazu Fusheini

A 28-year-old unemployed young man, Nurudeen Sayibu, from Duanayili in the Tamale Metropolis, at the weekend met his untimely death in his house when the trigger of a weapon he had expressed interest in buying was mistakenly pressed.

Sayibu, according to the police, wanted to buy the 10-round foreign made pistol numbered 7850066, for reasons yet unknown.

He therefore sought the assistance of one Muazu Fusheini, 28, who in turn went to one Abdallah – currently on the run, and also believed to be illegally engaged in arms trade in the metropolis – and took the pistol for examination and negotiation of the price.

It was gathered that the Sayibu, after examining the weapon and agreeing to the price, asked Muazu Fusheini to hold it while he (Sayibu) cleaned his room before both could leave for the bank to withdraw money to pay for the weapon.

According to information gathered, Muazu Fusheini, while handling the weapon which was fully loaded, mistakenly pulled the trigger, hitting Sayibu in the stomach. He was said to have fallen unconscious and bled profusely.

With the support of relatives and other tenants in the house, he was rushed to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for medical attention but died a few hours later on admission.

WANTED! AbdallahWANTED! Abdallah

The body has since been deposited at the hospital pending autopsy, while investigations are underway to arraign Muazu Fusheini before court to be provisionally charged for manslaughter and illegal possession of lethal weapon.
