Akua Donkor sacks Talensi parliamentary candidate from GFP

Founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor, has sacked the party’s parliamentary candidate for Talensi, Yaro Bameezina Philip, for alleging she hoarded some GH¢30,000 meant for the party’s campaign in last week’s by-election.

According to her, it was not true that she received money for the campaign during the by-election which saw the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Benson Tongo Baba win with 10,366 votes.

A day before last week’s Talensi by-election, Mr Bameezina alleged on radio that Akua Donkor had pocketed some GH¢30,000 meant for the campaign.

According to him, his party had neglected him by refusing to support his campaign financially and that he was likely not to vote for himself.
But In an interview on Adom FM on Tuesday, Madam Donkor said she had information that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wuntomi bribed her candidate and also promised to provide him with a land cruiser and more money for him to make those allegations against her.
She accused Chairman Wuntomi of being behind her candidate’s allegations.

Chairman Wontumi told him that he would not benefit anything from me but should he heed his (Chairman Wuntomi) instructions, he would give him a land cruiser and a huge sum of money, Akua Donkor told the radio station.

So, he (Bameezina) should claim that I introduced him to President Mahama and he gave me GHc30,000 for the campaign and I didn’t give him some. He should also say that he wouldn’t even vote for himself so the party loses the election, she said.

According to her, she sacked Mr Bameezina the very day the news came out that he was not going to vote for himself.
“I sacked him that very day because I am not afraid of him,” she said.
