A 17-year-old boy, Takyi Bright, has been hospitalized after he was beaten by a pastor and a church member in Techiman in the Western region.
The boy was accused of stealing GHc500 from the church.
Mother of the boy, Madam Barkisu Pokuaa, who narrated the incident to Gaskiya FM said a member of Believers Action Sanctuary Church, Blackie, and the pastor, Prophet Q. S. Samuel also known as Efo assaulted the teenager. They threatened to beat him to death.
They tied him with a rope and beat him with a belt and a woven wire. Takyi has scars all over his body and is receiving treatment at the Holy Family Hospital
He managed to escape through a glass window and screaming for help and later fell unconscious. Bystanders found him bleeding and rushed him to the hospital.
The pastor was later picked up by the police but has been granted bail.
The district Commander of police, DSP Mahmud Yussif, has confirmed the assault.
