Twenty people including the leader of pressure group, Let My Vote Count, David Asante have been arrested by the police during the group’s demonstration in Accra on Wednesday.
The group staged the protest to push to their demand for a new voters’ register in the build up to the 2016 general elections.
Citi News’ Duke Mensah Opoku who is with the protestors reported that the police are tight lipped over the arrests.
He however indicated that the decision by the protestors to divert the approved routes by the police may have led to the arrests.
Meanwhile the protest is said to have come to an abrupt end at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Adabraka.
Earlier, there were reports that the police fired tear gas to prevent the crowd from picketing at the premises of the Electoral Commission (EC).
