The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo has stated the recent wave of suspensions in the party will help bring harmony and uniformity in the workings of the party .
Speaking on Metro TV’s “ Good Evening Ghana” last night, the NPP leader said the suspensions were unanimously decided by national executives of the party.
He maintained that the decision to suspend some executives could not be reversed , adding that personally, he has no problems with any of the suspended national officers.
Nana Akufo Addo said the suspensions were regrettable “but now is the time for the NPP to move forward. I honestly wish we had been able to find a less painful way of resolving the problems in our party. These past 12 months, I have participated in every attempt to resolve the differences at the party headquarters.
He added that he had learned from past experiences regarding his campaign team and he is therefore bent on doing the right thing.
Explaining why he chose Peter Mac Manu as his campaign Manager, he said,“I chose Mac Manu to head my campaign because he has been a former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party and I know he has the capacity to catalyse the grassroots. Manu is extremely familiar with the electoral processes within and outside the country and he has represented the party at several EC platforms and in an EC reforms to ensure reforms in the 2016 election”, he said.
Nana Akufo- Addo added that Dan Botwe also has a deep knowledge of the party and knows he will contribute to the campaign team.
“The NPP have a good story to tell. I am ready and eager to lead us for that change. Together we will bring that change to Ghana,” he added.
