A suspected armed robber was electrocuted early Thursday morning at Peace Cottage , a community along the Tema motorway .
The deceased had attempted to disconnect the main transformer in the area in order to carry out suspected robbery activity in the dark.
A resident of the area Alhaji Mohammed, who is also an estate developer with MD Estates, told Atinka News that residents have been experiencing armed robbery attacks in recent times . He suspected that the dead robber and colleagues were embarking on a massive operation so they came in to turn off the transformer to carry out their evil agenda. “This one died in the process I believe,” Alhaji Mohammed added.
He further said the community has no watchdog committee since they were close to a police post, but with the recent happenings in the area they are ready to do anything to protect themselves.
The crime officer for East Legon, DSP Belinda Banini confirmed the news to Atinka News and added that the corpse had been sent to the Police Hospital Mortuary
