The Ministry of Interior has declared Thursday, September 24 a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid al-Adha.
Eid al-Adha is an Islamic festival observed by Muslims across the globe to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (also known as Abraham) to follow Allah’s
command to sacrifice his son, Ishmael.
A statement issued by the Interior Ministry said the day is a statutory holiday and thus asked Ghanaians to observe it as such.
Meanwhile, Monday, September 21 has also been declared a public holiday.
Known as Founders Day, it is a day statutorily set aside to observe the birthday of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
