NPP Gave Yvonne Nelson Gh5000 For Dumsor Vigil

Baah Acheamfour a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP),has disclosed that his party supported the popular #Dumsormuststop campaign led by actress Yvonne Nelson financially.

Speaking on Okay FM, Mr. Baah Acheamfour, spokesperson for Save NPP Now pressure group and a communication member of NPP alleged that John Boadu who is the National Organiser of NPP included in a budgetary allocation to the party executives that he (John Boadu) took GH¢5000 from the party’s coffers for actress Yvonne Nelson to support her dumsor campaign.

Baah also spoke on Neat FM’s “Entertainment Ghana” making the same allegations.

“John Boadu said he took GH¢5000 from the party and gave it to Yvonne Nelson. So first of all I am asking if he truely gave that money to Yvonne Nelson? I really want Yvonne Nelson to help the party by coming out to clarify if John Boadu actually gave her the money. NPP as a party had nothing to do with what Yvonne Neslson and her team were doing but John claim they request for support from the party”.

According Baah he doesn’t believe the said amount was actually given to Yvonne Nelson but insisted that John Boadu might have taken that money for something else and allegedly stated in a budget that he (JB) gave it to Yvonne Nelson. He added that John Boadu claimed that Yvonne Nelson and her team requested for support from NPP and party duly obliged and approved an amount of GH¢5000 to facilitate their anti-dumsor activities.

He therefore called on the party executives to investigate the matter and find out from the actress if indeed she received such amount from John Boadu and he also called on Yvonne to come out and clear her name.

“I am not saying NPP gave Yvonne Nelson and her friends GH¢5000. No! Because I believe my sister Yvonne and her people are too decent for that and I cannot disgrace them like that but all I am saying is that someone is accusing them falsely so they should come and clear their names. I am just helping them”.

Baah Acheapfour also alleged that according the same budgetary allocation, an amount of GH¢78,000 was also set aside by the party to support the “Won Gbo” demonstration organized in Accra on February 15, 2015.

Prior to the much talked about anti dumsor vigil on Saturday May 16, 2015, there were several allegations from fellow celebrities and supporters of the ruling NDC that organizers of the #dumsormuststop campaign were receiving moral and financial support from NPP. An allegation both members of NPP and organisers of the dumsor vigil denied then until Baah Acheamfour’s revelations.

These revelations came as part of confusion within the NPP after the party lost the Talensi by-election.

Attempts to reach Yvonne Nelson and John Boadu have all proven futile for now.
