NDC-UK & Ireland Chapter Marks The 30th Anniversary of the National Democratic Congress

Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba, the Chairman of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has on behalf of the Chapter issued a press release to Mark the 30th anniversary of the formation of the party.

Chairman Mbalba noted that three decades in the life of any organisation is an important milestone and worthy of celebration.

“Three decades in the life of any organisation is an important milestone and worthy of celebration. Some of our political opponents have opined that the National Democratic Congress(NDC) was not a political party and that the party founded by the Former late President Rawlings will cease to exist after the party exited office in 2000”.

According to him, the former late President JJ Rawlings and the party proved those naysayers wrong because the congress continues to grow from strength to strength.

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS(NDC) – UK & IRELAND CHAPTER STATEMENT TO MARK THE 30th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FORMATION OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS(NDC)

On behalf of the leadership and entire membership of NDC–UK & Ireland Chapter, I would like to wish the NDC fraternity around the world a Happy and Reflective 30th Anniversary. Three decades in the life of any organisation is an important milestone and worthy of celebration.

Some of our political opponents have opined that NDC was not a political party and that NDC will cease to exist after the party exited office in 2000, but those naysayers have been proven wrong because the “Congress” continues to grow from strength to strength. This is because NDC is a broad church which is attractive to Ghanaians from diverse political backgrounds and persuasions.

President Rawlings and the other founding fathers and mothers have selflessly bequeathed to us, the most successful and development-oriented political party in Ghana’s history since the post-Nkrumah era. Although NDC was birthed by a military or revolutionary government, the first NDC government under the Fourth Republic led by President Rawlings laid a strong foundation for democracy and rule of law in Ghana, which has culminated into Ghana’s longest attempt to deepen and consolidate democracy and rule of law in Ghana.

It is for this reason and others that Ghana has always ranked high in the area of good governance by international organisations anytime NDC is in government.
Therefore, we have a moral and altruistic duty to continue propagating and protecting the principles, values, and ideals of our founding fathers so that together we can build an equal opportunities country for our countrymen and women devoid of tribalism, nepotism, ethnocentrism and corruption.

It is rather unfortunate we are experiencing selective and discriminatory application of rule of law and culture of silence under President Akuffo Addo-Bawumia led government. Ghanaians must always rest assured that the NDC shares the avoidable pains and sufferings the President Akuffo-Addo-Bawumia led government is carelessly and recklessly inflicting on them.

The NDC shall not relent in our efforts as the best alternative that will offer constructive criticisms to the government with the aim of ameliorating the unprecedented economic hardships and abuse of human rights Ghanaians are experiencing today, while we wait to form the next government in 2025 led by President John Mahama.

Once again, we are wishing the NDC fraternity around the globe a happy, joyous, fulfilling and reflective 30th Anniversary.

Long Live Ghana! Long Live NDC!!

Thank you.

Alhaji Alhassan Mbalba
Chairman
NDC-UK & Ireland Chapter
