Ex-Black Stars striker Augustine Arhinful has called for Torino’s Afriyie Acquah and Aston Villa’s Jordan Ayew to be dropped from Ghana’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda.
Mr Arhinful’s comment comes after a voice purported to be that of Afriyie Acquah’s wife, Amanda, was heard on a leaked tape, claiming to have kept a sexual relationship with Jordan Ayew for four years.
The voice claimed that Ayew and Afriyie-Acquah were not on talking terms as a result of that relationship.
Commenting on the development on Accra-based Joy FM Wednesday, Augustine Arhinful said both Ayew amd Afriyie-Acquah should be dropped if they were indeed not on good terms.
He said: “[The GFA] should seek audience with [the two players], and if indeed anyone is harboring something then both players should drop from the team.”
“Because it is likely to bring problems in the set up. Whether we like it or not, it’s an issue we need to deal with. The Black Stars is supposed to assemble next week for an important game.
“[The GFA] must speak to them privately and [it must be done] now.”
Although Amanda Afriyie-Acquah, according to a report in a section of the media, has denied making those claims, the tape has gone viral on social media.
