Kantamanto fire: Bawumia visits scene to inspect damage; promises gov’t relief for victims

The government, in consultation with all stakeholders, intends to reconstruct and better protect the country’s markets and trading spaces, the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has disclosed.

In a number of photos sighted by Dailyviewgh.com on his social page of the vice president, he was spotted inspecting the level of damage the fire had caused.

Dr Bawumia was seen in the company of other government officials as they went on rounds to talk to some of the victims of the December 15, 2020, fire outbreak.

The inferno, according to an eyewitness, started from a place close to the Agbogbloshie Market at about 10 pm Monday night.

So far, more than 2,500 shop owners have been affected due to the fire outbreak.

In another development, on Tuesday [December 15] fire gutted some shops in Koforidua in the Eastern Region and destroyed goods.

Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service stormed the scene to control the fire from spreading to near-by facilities.
