IGNORE THE ‘BULLSHIT’ – JAKE TELLS NPP

Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, has called on the party’s supporters to ignore the issues confronting the party at the top hierarchy and concentrate on campaigning for votes for the presidential candidate of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to him, the aim of every supporter of the party is to ensure that the presidential candidate wins the 2016 elections by campaigning vigorously at the grassroots and ensuring vigilance at the polling stations on the day of the elections.

“If the chairman and the general secretary are quarrelling with our candidate, it does not make a difference in Ningo-Prampram. What makes the difference in Ningo-Prampram is what you do at the polling stations and what you do at constituency.

“I say to you, ignore the bullshit at the top. When people come to you that you guys are quarrelling, say to them, ‘Yes we are not feeling the country better and if you want to feel the country better then come and support the NPP,’” he pointed out.

The former chairman made the remarks when he addressed regional chairmen, former ministers, aspirants and newly-elected parliamentary candidates, the party’s executives, among others, last Sunday in Tema in the Greater Accra Region, as part of activities ending Nana Addo’s ‘Rise and Build’ tour of the country.

He was of the opinion that NPP members allowed themselves to be cheated in the 2012 elections, saying, “It’s very true that we allowed ourselves to be cheated. Don’t allow that again as we go to the polls – for Mahama and the NDC to be declared winners. We don’t win elections at the top; we win elections at the polling stations.”

He advised the supporters to commence their campaign immediately and ignore issues confronting the party at the national level.

Touching on issue related to the new voter register, Mr Obetsebi-Lamptey stated that the supporters should not become fixated on issues concerning the new register, but concentrate on campaigning for the party and allow the consultation process to go on.

He further admonished followers of the party to join their candidates at the various constituencies to campaign rigorously to ensure that the NPP wins the presidential election hands down.

“It is better to have your mother in the kitchen than having your mother’s rival in the kitchen because if your mother’s rival is in the kitchen you will be last to eat in that house,” he jokingly articulated.

He congratulated the party’s supporters on their enthusiasm, while reiterating the need for a decisive NPP victory in 2016.
