Mr Eddie Doku, a member of the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and chairman of the Referees Committee, says the FA is ready to settle matters with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, to ensure unity of purpose for the development of Ghana Football.
He noted that it would be very difficult for the two parties to call each other for a truce, hence the need for the government to intervene to ensure sanity in order to spare Ghanaians the ordeal of bidding good bye to AFCON 2017 and Russia 2018.
“The ground is hurting and if we don’t stop what we are doing I don’t think the Black Stars can make it even to the next stage of the qualifiers. I don’t see them qualifying to the World Cup. It is time to forge a common front and try to salvage the situation,” he told Happy FM.
“I can talk for the GFA but not for the ministry and I can assure you that the FA is ready to sit and talk so as to work towards a common goal”.
“If anybody tells me that they cannot see what is happening in football now then the person has no eyes. We need to sit down and talk and we can’t wait till it’s too late. The only thing left to do now is to dialogue and, once we are able to do that, everything will be alright”, he added.
Meanwhile, Mr Doku has tagged the last Premier League season as the most competitive league he has ever witnessed, scoring it eight-and-a-half out of 10.
