Ex Prez. Rawlings supporting daughter’s parliamentary ambition

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has officially declared his support for his daughter and NDC Parliamentary aspirant for the Klottey Korle Constituency in the Greater Accra region Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings.

The former first gentleman of the land Sunday joined thousands of people for a march and fitness walk organized by her daughter’s campaign team to galvanize support ahead of the Party’s planned November 7 primaries.

Mr. Rawlings later mounted the platform of a mini rally to speak to issues surrounding the campaign, which has so far enjoyed enormous support from the constituents.

Zanetor is seeking to unseat the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Nii Armah Ashietey. Two others are also contesting.

Zanetor, a medical Doctor by profession, is following in the footsteps of his family, who ruled Ghana for more than two decades and oversaw the country’s first transition of a democratically elected president to the other in 2001, when Rawlings made way for the opposition New Patriotic Party’s John Agyekum Kufour.

Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Zanetor’s mother, has since left the NDC, citing corruption and cronyism.

Last week, she told Fiifi Banson onAnopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM that ” its unfortunate my mum is with another party because she worked so hard in the NDC, and that cannot be taken away.”

The ultimate decision to have Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings return to the NDC again, she said, can be made by her alone.
