CAL Bank supports seven orphanages

CAL Bank has presented an amount of GH¢20,000 to some orphanages as part of activities marking its 25th anniversary.

Each year, the bank donates to the orphanages with the objective of making the children happy. The company also presents the orphanages with cash and other items.

The orphanages that benefited from the CAL support this year are the Tema SOS, Osu Children’s Home, Village of Hope, Echoing Hills, Handy Evangelistic Orphanage, Neglected Foster Home and Gomoa Fetteh Orphanage

The Managing Director of CAL Bank Limited, Mr Frank Adu Jnr, urged the Department of Social Welfare to change the name orphanages to homes in order to elevate their image and eliminate the stigma attached to them.

He also urged parents to invest in their children’s education, since it was an insurance for the future.

There were a lot of activities lined up on the day, including a five-a-side football match, sack race, lime and spoon race and river cruising.

Other games were going down slides, obstacle chase, eating competition and horse racing.

According Mr Adu Jnr, “It is our duty to care and make these vulnerable children feel accepted and loved.”

“Anyone of us could have been in an orphanage, just like these children,” he added.

The Resident Director of Handi Evangelistic Children’s Home, Pastor Reindorf Ashley, expressed his gratitude to CAL Bank for the support and urged them to continue to be kind to the vulnerable and destitute in society.

Cal Bank also presented a quantity of used clothing to each of the seven orphanages that received support from it.
