The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MANSCO LPG  gas filling station at Madina Atomic Junction roundabout area of Legon, in northeast Accra that exploded on Saturday has revealed that he has lost several millions of dollars to the inferno.

“I have lost several millions of dollars to the explosion”, he told Joy News in an interview.

According to George Owusu, he was at home when he received a call that his gas station was in flames which he in turn drew the attention of the accountant.

“My accountant will be able to give a true account of what happened but we have lost several millions of dollars as a result of the explosion. I was at the station in the morning and there was no leakage at all”, he reiterated.

Mr George Owusu denied claims some of his staff died as a result of the incident saying:”they were four of them on duty but have sustained some injuries and receiving treatment. None of my staff died he added.

He also denied claims there was a leakage from the tanker that was about to discharge the gas which sparked the inferno

Meanwhile, latest information indicates that 6 persons have been confirmed dead and more than 45 persons injured as a result.

Director of Police Operations, COP Dr George Akuffo Dampare who visited the scene on Sunday, disclosed that it has been cordoned off to enable personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service the space to conduct their investigations.

As at Sunday morning, fire service  personnel were still on site putting up strategies to ensure that the remaining gas in the tanker is evacuated without explosion.
