The deputy captain of the Black Stars Andre Ayew has expressed gratitude to fans of the Black Stars and West Ham United for their support during his recovery from a thigh injury.
Ayew was out of action for over two months and missed the Black Stars disappointing FIFA World Cup qualifier against Uganda.
He made a return to the West Ham team as a substitute in Wednesday’s 2-1 EFL Cup victory over Chelsea.
His return to action represents a huge boost for the Hammers who have struggled in the league and the Black Stars who face Egypt in a crucial World Cup qualifier next month.
Ayew expressed delight about his return in a post on Instagram Thursday night.
He posted: “I’m really glad that I was able to get back on the field yesterday. I’m so grateful for all the support I received and it definitely kept me driven to recover faster. I can’t thank the medical staff of West Ham enough for the big role they played in getting me back into shape and they were amazing @stijnvdb i also thank my Doctor Christophe Baudot and physio Jerome Palestri for also helping me when I was in France during my rehab they also played a big role. Most importantly I want to thank my West Ham fans for standing by me and motivating me when I was down. And to my GHANAIAN PEOPLES thank you for your prayers and massive support. I’m BACK and I promise to give my all to make all of you supporting me proud!! God bless you”.
West Ham face Everton this weekend and Ayew will be hoping to make a return to the starting line-up for Slaven Bilic’s side.
