Aminu Mohammed Zakaria receives 100 percent support to continue work as MCE

Mr. Aminu Mohammed Zakaria has been given an overwhelming endorsement to continue to work as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ayawaso North Municipality in the Greater Accra Region.

In an election conducted by the Electoral Commission (EC), the President’s nominee secured 100 percent votes of all the Assembly members.


The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr. Henry Quartey expressed his delight over the 100 percent support from the Assembly members, adding that the gesture is a testimony of the Assembly’s preparedness to collaborate with the MCE to enhance development in the municipality.


The Greater Accra Regional Minister commended all the stakeholders for the manner in which the election was carried out pointing out that it was held in peaceful atmosphere and urged all to operate in a non-partisan approach towards the infrastructural development for the municipality.
Mr. Henry Quartey advised the MCE to work with the rank and file of every party organisation and explained that the move is about development for the people and of the municipality.
“I urge you to cooperate with all assembly members and give feedback to the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in the discharge of duties for the Council to respond to your needed request”, he added.

In his victory speech, Mr. Aminu Mohammed Zakaria thanked the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the confidence and the trust imposed on him and assured that his second term in office will again witness tremendous growth of socio-economic projects in the municipality.

He further expressed his sincere thanks to the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Imams, opinion leaders, chiefs and assembly members for the cooperation with the Assembly which have transformed the municipality to a new level, growth and development.


“My doors are always open for discussions and deliberations in relation to the needs of the municipality and I urge all stakeholders and the people to join me complete the task ahead”, he added.

For his part, the President of Council of Zongo Chiefs, Chief Moro Baba Issah called on all to work collectively with the MCE in peace and harmony and commended the Assembly members for the total support given to the MCE saying it shows the commitment of works exhibited by the MCE in the discharge of duties and urged them to give him the maximum cooperation to provide and address developmental projects to boost the image of the Assembly”, Chief Moro Issah said.
