We delayed our primaries to correct an ambitious time table – Asiedu Nketiah

The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says the party delayed its Presidential and parliamentary primaries because the time table it set in motion to guide the process was too ambitious.

“The process we’ve adopted is the first of its kind; No political party has tried the Adult suffrage before in our system. I believe originally we had an ambitious time table for this process, and so we’ve realised that it is better and in the best interest of all of us to allow ourselves for more time to be able to get a credible and refined process” Mr. Asiedu Nketiah told host Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM Tuesday.

The chief scribe of the incumbent party, popularly known as General Mosquito, said postponement of the process by a fortnight will essentially afford the party time to address all challenges with the new process.

He’s advised party supporters and the various candidates to take advantage of the delay, and ensure all their concerns are addressed during the exhibition stage.

The primaries to be held across the 275 constituencies were originally scheduled to for Saturday, November 7.

But at an emergency National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Monday, November 2, a decision was taken to postpone the exercise to Saturday, November 21.
