Cost of COVID-19 test at Kotoka Airport to be reduced from $150 to $50 – Health Minister

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has directed that the cost of COVID-19 antigen test at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) be reduced to $50 from $150.

Health officials and the company administering the antigen test at KIA will be expected to charge $50 instead of the previous $150.

The Kotoka International Airport, on September 1, 2020, opened to receiving the first batch of international travels since the closure of the country’s air borders in March 2020.

At the arrival terminal of KIA, some passengers who got there revealed that they did not undergo mandatory COVID-19 testing.

Earlier in the week, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) announced that it has capped the COVID-19 PCR test at $50 for citizens of its member states who are travelling within the region.

Mr Agyemang-Manu also reiterated free testing to be undertaken by public laboratories for Ghanaians.

On vaccines, he said the president and stakeholders were in a meeting on how Ghana could get COVID-19 vaccines.
