In the aftermath of the much-observed NPP General Conference, Asiedu Nketsiah has called on the government to investigate the actions Mr. Freddie Blay. According to the General Secretary of opposition NDC, the just-elected Chairman of the NPP used his position as the Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation in his bid to secure the position for which he was eventually voted for.
However from the statements made by Mr. Freddie Blay, the three million dollar guarantee that helped to purchase the 275 buses, was provided by himself from his personal funds. Yet, General Mosquito, along with several members of the opposition have called the move a misuse of the public office of Board Chairman to which he had been appointed.
According to him the amount supposedly given by Mr. Blay is far out of his financial capability and might possibly be an act of misappropriation of funds from the GNPC. He therefore called on the government to launch an aggressive investigations into the actions of Mr. Blay and demanded an audit of the accounts of GNPC.
In answer to such allegations the Chief Executive of GNPC, Mr. K. K. Sarpong said in a signed statement that the corporation had nothing to do with the purchase of the 275 buses as is the claim of the opposition party.
