After a week’s break, the Waatco Diwali Cup T20 Cricket tournament batted off at the Achimota Cricket Oval in Accra last Sunday with BGC and Knight Riders qualifying to the semi-finals after four matches.
The second game of the day saw Everest Cricket Club riding high on a knock of 55 runs by Ajay who scored a mammoth 164 for three in 20 overs against Godrej who could manage only 29 runs in 12.1 overs. Ajay was adjudged man of -the- match.
An interesting third game saw Dilmah clashed with GTA. GTA batted first and were all out for 50 runs in 15 overs, in reply, Dilmah could manage only 31 runs in 10 overs. Madhu of GTA was adjudged man-of-the-match for his 4 wickets.
In the final game of the day, last years winners, BGC took on Midcom. Batting first, BGC could manage only 37 runs in 15 overs. However, they put up a good bowling performance with Wasim taking four wickets and got Midcom all out, for only 20 runs in 10 overs. Wasim was declared man-of-the match.
The tournament will continue next Sunday with the first semi-final between BGC & Knight Riders.
