Photos: Emmanuel Adebayor and Ghanaian celebrities beat Black Stars 8-6 in charity game

The much-anticipated ‘ Star Soccer Fiesta’ charity football match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday ended with a 6-8 trashing of the Ghana Black Stars team by the Ghana celebrities team.

The Black Stars declared their intentions to carry the day, when former Hearts of Oak playerWinful Cobbinah shot them into the lead in the early minutes of the game. Cobbinah doubledthe score line for the Stars, before he added the third goal to earn a hat-trick.

Asamoah Gyan who played for the Celebrities registered his name on the score sheet to bring them into the game and added another one to complete the half with the Celebritiesleading 4-2, because it was agreed that a goal for them was two, hence two goals scored gained them 4 goals.

The Black Stars made some changes in their team by introducing Mubarak Wakasu, Jonathan Mensah, Afriyie Acquah, Frank Acheampong during half time. The Stars started the second half with much urgency and earned the equalizer through Razak Ibrahim, before Clement Gyan shot the Black Stars into the lead.

However, Emmanuel Adebayor, the skipper of the Togo national team, who also played for the celebrities, was awarded a controversial penalty and to the surprise of the spectators, Funnyface, the renowned comedian who had come on in the second half elected himself for the spot kick and he perfectly converted it to make the score line 6-5 in their favour.

The Black Stars fought gallantly and got the equalizer through Mubarak Wakasu, but just as the game was getting to a close Funny Face became the hero of the day when he finished off a well calculated ball to give the Celebrities 8-6 win. At a point in the second half of the game the Celebrities increased in numbers from 11 to 14 on the field as against 11-man Black Stars team. There were performances by Gasmilla and Stonebwoy to entertain the spectators

Black Stars started the game with: Abiba Sulemana, former Black Queens goalkeeper, Bright Addae, Awal Mohammed, Rahid Sumaila, Joe Tagoe,  Enoch Adu Kofi, Mohammed Gargo, Winful Cobbinah, Baffour Gyan, Christian Atsu.

Substitutes: Jonathan Mensah, Frank Acheampong, Wakasu, Afriyie Acquah, Razak Ibrahim
