3-storey church building collapses and traps worshippers, 1 dead at Akyem Batabi

A three-storey church building belonging to the Church of Promise has collapsed at Akyem Batabi in the Eastern Region, trapping some worshippers.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon.

Prophet Osofo Akoa Isaac, who is well noted for his accurate prophesies, has been in the ministry of the word of God for over 33 years. He is one of the few men of God in Ghana who do not take offertory and tithe.

A buldozer is currently on site trying to move the wreckage so that lives could be saved.

According to Kyei-Boateng, the voices of those trapped inside could be heard with some screaming for help.

Several Members of the Church of Prosperity founded by Prophet Akoa Isaac have been trapped under the rubble.

One person has been retrieved dead while others in critical condition have rushed to the hospital.

Some congregants, who managed to escape with several injuries, were those who were outside when the six-storey structure collapsed.

A joint rescue team made up of officials of the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, Ghana National Fire Service, Police, Ambulance Service are currently at the scene with excavators trying to rescue people trapped under the rubble.
