Three male farmers were trapped to death at Pabi near Asamankese in the Eastern Region last Tuesday when a tree which they were felling killed them instantly.
The deceased have been identified as Richard Ayisi, 36, owner of the chainsaw machine; Samuel Kwaku Nkrumah, 31, machine operator and Kwaku Gavor, 31, an assistant machine operator.
Briefing journalists at Asamankese, the Asamankese District Police Commander, Superintendent Anane Appiah, said the three went to the farm last Monday to fell a tree.
Tree felling
He said they could not complete the felling of the tree that day so they went back to complete the job last Tuesday.
According to Superintendent Anane Appiah, while in the process of felling the tree, the tree suddenly trapped the three men to death when it was landing on the ground.
He said a report was made to the Asamankese police and when police personnel went to the scene, they saw the three men dead under the tree.
Superintendent Anane Appiah said the police managed to retrieve the bodies of the three and sent them to the Asamankese Government Hospital.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating the case as some people have claimed that the tree which was felled last Monday was standing upright the next day when the three persons went to saw the felled tree.
