Some aggrieved land owners in the Eastern Region where a community day SHS was recently commissioned have threatened to turn the school into a public toilet.
The angry land owners at Nyanoa in the Upper West Akyem district of the Eastern Region whose lands were taken for the construction of the Community Day SHS made the threat after claiming government has failed to pay them their crop and land compensation.
One of the aggrieved landowners, an elderly woman, told Daily View Gh Correspondent, Dan K. Prince, they cannot allow the school to run smoothly while government owes them compensation.
The elderly woman claims government took the lands from twenty-three other colleagues for the construction of the Community Day SHS at Kwaboa Nyanoa in the Eastern Region and promised to pay compensation but is yet to honour that promise.
President John Mahama on Thursday (yesterday) commissioned the school where the angry land owners had threatened to demonstrate.
However, the outgoing Eastern Regional Minister, Antwi Boasiako-Sekyere, pleaded with them to rescind the planned demonstration.
The angry landowners have given government a two-week ultimatum to pay them their compensation.
They told Daily View Gh they are bent on carrying out their threat.
