Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye has denied allegations of bribery following Monday’s howler in the defeat to Kotoko.
Soulama, who represented Kotoko between 2007 and 2014, crossed carpets to join rivals Hearts of Oak after a series of similar bribery allegations against him.
But the Burkinabe international claims he was not bribed by the fabulous boys prior to the game in Accra.
“I am a true professional and I will not go and take money from Kotoko…everyone knows the circumstances that led to me quitting Kotoko, so why will I go back to them and take money. Yesterday was a bad day,” Soulama told Happy FM in an interview.
The Burkinabe miscued a back pass into his own net in what proved the separating factor as the Porcupine Warriors picked up a 1-0 away victory at the Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana’s biggest football rivalry.
He later received the marching orders for bringing down Kotoko’s Dauda Mohammed just outside the penalty box.
Soulama has described the day as the saddest day of his life and his footballing career.
“Yesterday was my saddest day but I believe it is part of football and I will get over it soon.”
“I have been having nightmares, I am really down though the players, management and coaches have encouraged me [but] I still cannot raise myself up.
“I don’t know how I can even train in the coming days.”
Monday’s game was the 54th meeting between the two sides in all at the Accra Sports Stadium.
