Vote for me — Freddy Blay

The acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Freddy Blay, has called on delegates of the party to give him the nod to become the substantive chairman of the party in the upcoming national delegates congress slated for June 17, 2018 in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

“I wouldn’t say that I, Freddy Blay, as an individual, have played a yeoman’s role to make the party come to power. I think it will be too much for me to say so, but at the same time I am saying that I am a lucky chairman; our party was almost in tatters when I had the opportunity to act as the chairman,” he stated.

He said in his wisdom he believed he had held the party together till date.

Blunders

Mr Blay noted that some people thought because he was coming from the Convention People’s Party (CPP) he was going to mess up the party, but he was happy he had not caused too many blunders.

He made this comment when spoke to the media during an interaction, as part of a two-day tour of the Eastern Region.

The tour started from the Krobo area to Koforidua, through to the Afram Plains and ended at Nkawkaw.

He noted that other contestants joining the race engendered competition, because “it makes people feel that if you are not doing your work, you will put in more effort.”

Inflation/interest rate

Mr Blay indicated that the government was trying very hard and that within the one and half years that the NPP had been in power, inflation and interest rates had come down.

That, he said, would enable the banks to reduce the threshold so that they would be in a position to give more loans to indigenous businesses.

He indicated that the government was working to improve infrastructure so that the economy would grow and enforce discipline in every aspect of Ghanaian lives.

He added that the government was also putting measures in place to ensure that sole sourcing disappeared so that people would be paid what they deserved and we would get value for money to ensure that revenue generated would be used for the benefit of Ghanaians.

He said the NPP was doing well and urged the party faithful to gear themselves to brush off the propaganda from their opponents so that Ghanaians would continue to have faith in the party.

“We need more than just four years to be in power; we need more than eight years so that the economy will be better. Ghana is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The NPP is doing well,” he stated.

Mr Blay said the NPP won power not to satisfy party members only but for all Ghanaians to benefit from the jobs that would be provided.

He called on all Ghanaians to be patient with the government because it was working hard and putting good programmes and policies in place to ensure that the citizens would be satisfied.
