Tension is high in Bungoma after Kibabii University students’ protest turned chaotic on Saturday night leading to destruction of property and looting.
The protest, orchestrated by the death of a Kibabii University student who was knocked down by a speeding car outside the university Saturday night, have angered matatu conductors and touts who have vowed to exert revenge for their losses.

The conductors have ganged up with boda boda operators in a revenge mission, with reports indicating that the group is headed to the university, though it is not clear what their mission is.
Police are on the scene to try and calm the situation.
