Students of University of education winneba of Ghana and their colleagues from the school hall have been fingered in preliminary findings into the bloody clash at the SRC Week celebration which took place Saturday April 1.
The students have accused the school’s Students Representative Council (SRC) of misappropriation of funds meant for a just ended SRC week celebration.
According to reports, the students from UEW were invited for a “SRC Week” event at the school auditorium as part of activities to mark the Hall Week celebration.
The source explained that a misunderstanding ensued between the students when angry mobs stopped some naked vandals from the UEW , Unity and from entering the hall.
The students began throwing stones at each other and in the process several properties, including the Bus of UEW and vehicles belonging to some lecturers, were destroyed, the witness said to Daily View Gh’s Dan kwasi Prince.
According to the sources, some of the irate students turned their anger on the police and military personnel who were dispatched to the campus to maintain law and order. The police cum military personnel were, however, able to restore calm on the campus.
Calm has been restored and the students were going about their activities peacefully.
