Uganda President Yoweri Museveni has extended financial support of $300,000 for the preparation of the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier away match against Ghana.

The game comes off in Tamale on October 7.

The amount includes three months’ salary arrears to head Coach Milutin Sredejovic.

The message was delivered by a telephone call from the head of state to the Fufa President Monday (today).

“The President has required me to deliver a message to the team and the coaches that they should represent their country to the pride of Ugandans and he is fully behind us.

“We are delighted as a federation to get direct assistance from the head of state, His Excellency Tower Museveni. It has come at a great time we are planning for the Ghana game. We are also happy we will be able to pay our dedicated coach Micho,” Fufa president Moses Magogo told Supersport Uganda.

The Cranes qualified for Afcon 2017 after a 39-year wait.

Meanwhile, the team left Kampala early Monday morning and are expected to pitch camp in Togo.
