Sylvester Mensah’s bank accounts frozen

The Ghana Financial Intelligence Centre has frozen all the bank accounts of former Chief Executives of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA ) Sylvester Mensah.
This follows an ex-parte application sought by the Financial Intelligence Centre at an Accra court.

Sylvester Mensah is in the grips of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) over false claims paid to some medical facilities.
The Financial Intelligence Centre applied for an ex-parte to the Financial and Economic court in Accra for an order to freeze Mr. Mensah’s accounts.

The FIC was represented in court by Arthur Chambers. They made argument in support of why necessarily the accounts of Sylvester Mensah should be frozen.

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is investigating how some health facilities were certified to become service providers of the NHIA.
This is in connection with the BNI’s investigations into allegations of false claims by some 10 medical facilities, with suspicions that the processes were compromised.

Sylvester Mensah reported himself to the BNI on January 1 after he was invited for questioning some days back.
The security agency is also investigating how tariffs for providers are calculated, vetted and the components of the membership and financial management.
