In the hours following the unfortunate passing of the former vice president, Mr. Amissah Arthur, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II; the paramount chief of Akyem Abuakwa State recounted the events of the passing of the former president in a statement he made in response to the event.
In the statement, which was meant to be a message of condolence to the bereaved family the Paramount told of his close relationship with Mr. Amissah Arthur and how the lack of an ambulance contributed to the ailing ex-president being thrown into the bucket of a pick-up truck.
That statement didn’t seem to sit well with the former presidential staffer, Mr. Stan Dogbe, who asked why the Okyehene didn’t oblige to have the president sent to the hospital in his “luxury car”, calling the statement “a reckless seeking of cheap popularity.” Further accusing current President Nana Akufo Addo of “watching on as the ambulance service collapses.”
In response to Stan’s comments the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council clarified that the Okyehene’s car was not at the scene but was supposed to arrive after he had finished his exercises. The representative of the Council also called the comments “a clear act of disrespect.” And added that it was that sort of disrespect by some members of the party that landed the NDC in opposition.
