The phenomenon of religious people speaking in languages unknown to them during worship is “senseless” says Ghanaian artiste, MzBel.
The ’16 years’ act is of the opinion that people should not say things that they don’t understand.
“Tongues itself is play. It is very silly… when you go to church and speak in tongues, it is senseless,” explained MzBel to Mr. EL on ‘Adwumapa Mmere’ on Connect FM in Takoradi.
“People would say that on the day of Pentecost, the disciples spoke in new languages, but when you read further…they only spoke languages other than their mother tongues.”
In the past MzBel had courted controversy for her opinions on religion, christianity in particular – describing it as idol worshipping.
The statements led to severe backlash, with the singer arguing that she is entitled to her opinion.
