Accra, Feb 26 – The 110th Speech, Prize-Giving and Founder’s Day celebrations of the Adisadel College comes off on Saturday, 14th March 2020 at the Centenary Auditorium of the school.
Powered by the Santa 1995 year group, it has “STEM Education: The Future of Today’s Youth and Ghana’s Economic Transformation” as the theme for the celebration.
The Project lead, Mr Kwamina-Ackun Wood commenting on the choice of the Project in an interview with elsieopinari.com said: “After several stakeholder consultations, we decided on STEM Project. STEM is basically Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
“STEM permeates in every aspect of our lives. Mathematics, for instance, is in every occupation and for that matter in every activity we partake in.”
Mr Wood told elsieopinari.com that undoubtedly, the future belongs to critical thinkers and problem solvers; STEM education is the way to go.
He observed that the STEM House Project when fully completed would have a seating capacity of 300 students which would include an innovation hub.
“The initial cost of the Projects in the region of GHS2.4m. It is a huge figure but it did not scare us. We understood clearly that the Project is not only a 1995 year group Project. It is an Adisadel Old Boys project however the 1995 year group happen to inspire and initiate the Project,” he opined.
The four-day event, which would start from Thursday 12th March to Sunday 15th March has a series of programmes scheduled to mark this year’s anniversary.
Preceding the Speech day event would be a career guidance and counselling mentorship sessions and football match on Thursday 12th March 2020 with a cadet route march, tree planting exercise, workshop or training programme for the academic staff, organised in collaboration with Santa 1994 as well as a bonfire and fireworks happening on Friday, 13th March 2020.
On Saturday, 14th March is the Speech, Prize- Giving and Founder’s Day celebration, there would also be the unveiling of the STEM Project which would be crowned with a Dinner to be organised in collaboration with the 1995 year group of Holy Child Old Girls’ Association.
The four-day-long event which would have Right Reverend Alexander Kobina Asmah, the Anglican Bishop of Sekondi Diocese as Chairman for the Speech, Prize-Giving and Founder’s Day celebrations and Otwasuom Osae Nyampong VI, the Traditional Ruler, Pese Kamena Traditional Area; Board Chairman, Genser Energy as Guest of Honour as well as Dr Daniel Owiredu, the Chairman of Local Board, Golden Star Resources: Chairman, Governing Council of Anglican University College of Technology as the Guest Speaker would be climaxed with a Thanksgiving service and the much-anticipated cement party that forms part of the Santaclaucians “tradition”.
It would be supported by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), GCB Bank, Zeeghurt and Selix.
