A member of the New Patriotic Party communication team for Akropong and Eastern region Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as “IGP” has been shot by armed robbers at his residence at Pokuase in Accra.
Daily View Gh’s Dan Kwasi Prince, with an interview with a fellow Party Member said, the incident happened at about 2:00 Monday dawn.
According to him, “IGP was visiting his wife who had delivered when he heard an unusual noise at his door, he then tried preventing the robbers from entering and in retaliation the robbers shot his hand which he was using to resist their entry with a pump action gun, with bullets hitting portions of his belly.
IGP was rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and he is currently at the Intensive Care unit where he is responding to treatment.
The Pokuase Police is currently investigating the incident to apprehend the perpetrators.
