Team Ghana will be hoping to chalk their first wins of the 2016 Olympic Games when boxer Abdul Wahid Omar and young swimmer, Abeiku Jackson make their debuts today in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Abeiku has his eyes set on history today as he aims to become Ghana’s first maleOlympic swimmer as well as lower his personal best with hopes of advancing to the semi-finals.
Four hours later (8.00pm), 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Omar will come against Argentina’s Alberto Ezequiel Melian in a round of 32 bantamweight bout.

Omar will be hopeful of continuing Ghana’s rich boxing history at the Olympics, as he comes up against a very stubborn opponent.
The duo will be hoping to avoid the fates of Hungarian-born judoka Szandra Szogedi and swimmer Kaya Adwoa Forson who both suffered first-round exits earlier in the week.
