Poor economic performance by NPP vindicates us – Asiedu Nketiah

General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has said that the poor performance of the Akufo-Addo led administration is a vindication of warning signs the NDC gave Ghanaian prior to the run up of the 2016 elections.

He said the current administration is completely in tatters as it continues messing up the economy with weak policies.

“What`s going on now is a clear show of how incompetent the NPP administration is, this further vindicates the NDC. Ghanaians will remember that we told them several times and it has now come to pass, am not really happy that things are going bad, we must all help, knowing that the way things are going is not good,” he said.

He told host of Anopa Kasapa, Kweku Owusu Adjei, that Ghanaians must prepare themselves to rescue the nation from the current hardship imposed on its citizens by voting for the opposition NDC in the 2020 elections.

“We must all prepare to help this nation by making sure we bring back the NDC. The NDC has better policies that we will help the country to move in an upward trajectory manner.” he said.

However, commenting on the recent collapse of some five indigenous banks, he said “why should banks collapsed if the economy is doing that well, the collapse of the banks is an indication of how bad the economy is doing”

Meanwhile the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has slated December 7, 2018 for the election of its flagbearer for the 2020 general elections.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, who announced this while updating journalists about the party’s upcoming internal elections in Accra, Thursday, August 2, 2018, said the decision taken will enable the flagbearer-elect enough time to go around the country to campaign.

He made this revelation moments after opening nominations for the party’s flagbearership contest and also giving the green light to flagbearer hopefuls to begin their campaign.

“On December 7, 2018, the choice will be made over who leads the party. This will give the candidate enough time to go around the country to campaign”, he noted.

The decision by the party falls in line with its Constitution.

Article 42 (1) of the Constitution of the NDC states that “The date and venue for the election of the Presidential Candidate shall be decided by the National Executive Committee but that election shall take place at least twelve (12) months before a national election date if the party is in power and at least twenty-four (24) months if the party is not in power”.

The next general election is slated for December 7, 2020 barring any unforeseeable changes.

Mr. Nketiah, who is also known as ‘General Mosquito’ further announced the postponement of the Regional Conferences that were meant to elect regional executives of the party.

The party had scheduled August 24, 2018 for the event but Mr. Nketiah said due to circumstances beyond their control, they had to postpone it to September 1, 2018.
