The Accra Central Police Tuesday arrested and detained Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku for allegedly assaulting his cousins.
The boxer is said to have assaulted four of his cousins last Wednesday after a confrontation.
The Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Afia Tengey confirmed the arrest of Bukom Banku to Graphic Online.
According to her, the 38-year-old boxer had been detained pending further investigations.
Recounting the incident to Graphic Online, one of the victim, Charllote Dodoo said on Wednesday March 9, she was in the company of her sisters having fun at Bukom when Banku arrived in the company of a lady who happened to be a cousin.
According to her, Bukom Banku without provocation started raining insults on them and when they responded the boxer pounced on them with slaps.
She said Banku slapped two of her cousins and pushed the other to the ground and in her attempt to intervene; the boxer knocked her on the chin.
According to her, initial attempts to have Banku arrested failed as the James Town Police Station refused to arrest the boxer compelling them to report the case at the Accra Central Police.
