Planting for Food and Jobs is spectacular – Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has described the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) programme as a spectacular intervention which had led to an increase in food production in the country.

According to him, through the PFJ programme, government has been providing state-sponsored support to smallholder farmers across the country which has resulted in a boost in food production in the country.

He said there had been an increase in food crops such as cassava, plantain, and maize across the whole country, hence gradually making the country food self-sufficient.

“PFJ in my estimation been spectacular,” President Akufo-Addo said at a media encounter at the Jubilee House on Friday, December 13, 2019.

He said, for instance, that for the very first time, the Upper East Region produced excess rice and needed markets for it, which he said the State would be embarking on providing warehousing to store such excess produce.
