A member of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) taskforce was on Wednesday morning assaulted by a market woman at Tudu near the Makola market in Accra.
The angry woman is said to have given the city guard some dirty slaps during a scuffle after he tried to confiscate her goods during a decongestion exercise at the market.
According to AMA laws, it is unlawful for hawkers to sell on the pedestrian walkway and the woman according to the taskforce official had breached the law.
The city guard who was trying to enforced the law incurred the wrath of the market woman who accused them of milking them for money.
But for the intervention of other taskforce, the city guard would have been beaten to pulp by the market woman
The reinforcement team which came to salvage the situation has since sent the woman to the AMA office to answer some questions.
The woman is likely to face some sanctions if found guilty of assault.
