The past weekend saw the final burial rites for Ghanaian musicians Daasebre Gyamenah and Vybrant Faya. Daasebre was buried in his maternal hometown of Anomabo Ndasimam in the Central region while Vybrant Faya was buried in Tema.
A true highlife legend, Daasebre reportedly succumbed to a heart attack at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Friday, July 29, 2016.
Daasebre first came into the limelight with “Ko ko ko” in 1999, and since then, has widely been considered a reference point in contemporary highlife. He was reportedly working on a gospel album detailing his recent trials till his death.
Born Emmanuel Kojo Quayeson, dancehall singer Vibrant Faya passed at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra after being involved in motor accident on the Tema motorway, on Sunday 23rd October 2016. He was signed to SMFand is perhaps most known for the popular anthem “Mampi”.
