Multiple award-winning Ghanaian artiste and philanthropist, Kwame Nsiah-Apau (Okyeame Kwame) has received a United States Presidential Volunteer Service Award for his outstanding humanitarian effort.

He was awarded on Sunday 19th March, 2017 in Ohio by Barack Obama, Ex president of USA in recognition of his Hepatitis B campaign in Ghana.

The Presidential Service Award is the highest civilian honour granted to US citizens and permanent residents for their voluntary community service towards development.

Kwame in partnership with MDS-Lancet Laboratories in 2009 spearheaded and funded the screening, vaccination, sensitisation of over 7,000 beneficiaries against the deadly Hepatitis B disease in his country.

Kwame was presented with a congratulatory plaque with the inscription, “Outstanding Humanitarian Service in Ghana” by Dr. Pauline Key on behalf of the former president.

The artiste expressed his appreciation to Obama for the honor and pledged even greater intensity of his campaign towards ridding Africa of Hepatitis.

His management earlier this year announced that plans were advanced to extend their Hepatitis activation to other West African countries in the coming months.

Kwame recently received a key to the city of Cincinnati for his efforts, as well as an appointment by the World Hepatitis Alliance.
