Victims of last Friday’s fire outbreak at Mampong in the Ashanti Region have been laid to rest (today) Monday.
A family of five and a family friend were consumed by the fire which occurred in their home at a community known as Worakese while they were asleep.
The deceased included a Pastor, his four children and his pastor friend. It still remains unclear what caused the fire Friday dawn.
Several attempts by volunteers to rescue the trapped family was unsuccessful as the building was locked.

The family of the deceased had planned to hold a funeral for the dead, but Chief of Ashanti Mampong, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, Monday morning prevented the family from going ahead with the event.
The prevention, www.dailyviewgh.com learnt, had to do with the fact that Sunday was a Sacred Day (Akwasidae) in the calendar of the Traditional Area and therefore was improper for anyone to organize a funeral a day after that special day.
The family was left with no option than to postpone the funeral to a more appropriate date.
